What is Nonocross?

This site documents 60 solved Nonocross levels, from the 3x3 tutorial square to 10x10 grids, every one rendered cell by cell. Nonocross is a nonogram puzzle game developed by Gimica GmbH in which you fill cells in a grid by reading number clues placed along each row and column. Each set of numbers describes the lengths of filled-cell runs in that row or column in order from left to right or top to bottom, with at least one empty cell between each run. Complete the full grid correctly and you reveal a pixel-art picture.

Across 60 levels the game covers 3,712 total cells, of which 2,352 are filled - an overall fill ratio of 63.4%, with individual levels ranging from 42% to 98% density. The puzzles use 7 distinct grid formats: 3x3 (1 level), 4x4 (3 levels), 5x5 (5 levels), 6x6 (7 levels), 7x7 (10 levels), 8x8 (17 levels), 10x10 (17 levels). Grids grow from simple 3x3 shapes in the tutorial range to the larger puzzles near level 60.

Every answer on this site is stored as a binary cell matrix - a row-by-row sequence of filled and empty cells derived directly from the puzzle. The row and column clues you see on each level page are re-derived from that matrix rather than transcribed from the app, and a nightly verification sweep confirms the clue sums stay consistent across all 60 files. If a grid is stored incorrectly, the sweep catches it before you load the page.

The 39 levels with at least one completely filled row are the most approachable for beginners: a full row gives you an unambiguous starting point without any deduction. The 5 levels with a vertically symmetric clue pattern - the row clues read the same from top to bottom as from bottom to top - yield a symmetric solution, so solving the upper half determines the lower half. Nonocross does not include a daily puzzle mode. All 60 levels are fixed and play in sequence. You can search by level number to jump to any level instantly, or use the range pages to browse in blocks of twenty.

The seven grid sizes in this set appear in a clear progression: 3x3 at Level 1, 4x4 from Level 2, 5x5 from Level 5, 6x6 from Level 9, 7x7 from Level 11, 8x8 from Level 21, and 10x10 first at Level 33. This means the earliest levels solve in under a minute while the final range manages up to 100 cells across 20 clue lines. The range pages break the full set into blocks of 20 - Levels 1-20 covers the smaller grids, Levels 21-40 transitions to 8x8 complexity, and Levels 41-60 is dominated by 10x10 puzzles averaging 56% fill density.

How do you play Nonocross?

Each row and column carries a sequence of numbers telling you the lengths of filled-cell groups in that line, in order. Your job is to deduce exactly which cells to fill and which to leave empty.

Read the clues

Each number on a row or column is a run of consecutive filled cells. Multiple numbers mean multiple runs with at least one gap between them.

Fill cells you are certain must be filled, and mark with a cross cells you are certain must be empty. Both are equally important.

Compare difficulty before you play

Each range tile shows the grid size and fill density. Higher density (60%+) often means more overlap and faster entry; lower density (under 50%) means sparser grids requiring more cross-line deduction. Use the range pages to gauge a level before opening it.

TECHNIQUE 1

Full and empty lines first

39 levels in this set have at least one row where a single clue equals the grid width - fill it completely before touching anything else.

TECHNIQUE 2

Overlap forced cells

When a clue is larger than half the grid width, cells in the middle are forced. Place the clue at both extremes and fill the overlap zone.

TECHNIQUE 3

Cross rows against columns

Every filled cell constrains both its row and its column simultaneously. A cell you nail from a column clue may unlock a row you were stuck on.

Exploit symmetry
